Lanky fast bowler Nuwan Zoysa came to Sri Lanka's rescue after another woeful batting display by the top order to steer his team to a consolation win over Australia in the fifth and final one day international played at the SSC grounds yesterday.
Zoysa hit a career best 47 not out off 42 balls inclusive of five fours and two sixes to earn his team a three-wicket win in the five-match series which Australia won by a margin of 3-2.
Zoysa's excellent batting where he did not put a foot wrong followed his magnificent bowling performance of three for 34 in the Australian innings which gave him the man-of-the-match award.

Left-handed Zoysa eased the pressure on Sri Lanka with his clean, hard hitting, smashing fast bowler Brett Lee for a six and a four after surviving a difficult chance in the deep in the same over.
Zoysa was also in the limelight as a seamer, grabbing three wickets for 34 runs to restrict the world champions to a small total on a slow turning pitch.
Zoysa eventually won the 'battle of all-rounders' with Andrew Symonds, who top-scored for Australia with 40 and then took two wickets with his off-breaks to keep his team's hopes alive.
