Obion County is a county located in the state of Tennessee. As of 2000, the population is 32,450. Its county seat is Union City6.
Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,438 km˛ (555 mi˛). 1,411 km˛ (545 mi˛) of it is land and 27 km˛ (10 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 1.88% water.

Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 32,450 people, 13,182 households, and 9,398 families residing in the county. The population density is 23/km˛ (60/mi˛). There are 14,489 housing units at an average density of 10/km˛ (27/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 88.16% White, 9.85% Black or African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.91% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 1.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 13,182 households out of which 31.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.40% are married couples living together, 11.10% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.70% are non-families. 25.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 2.89.
In the county, the population is spread out with 23.40% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 27.70% from 25 to 44, 25.40% from 45 to 64, and 15.20% who are 65 years of age or older.
