Oden is a town located in Montgomery County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 220.


Geography

Oden is located at 34°37'13" North, 93°46'49" West (34.620185, -93.780248)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 km˛ (0.9 mi˛). 2.2 km˛ (0.9 mi˛) of it is land and 0.1 km˛ (0.04 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 2.30% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 220 people, 79 households, and 65 families residing in the town. The population density is 99.9/km˛ (258.2/mi˛). There are 93 housing units at an average density of 42.2/km˛ (109.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 96.36% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 1.82% Native American, 0.91% Asian, 0.45% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 79 households out of which 38.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.7% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.7% are non-families. 16.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.78 and the average family size is 3.14.


In the town the population is spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 89.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.6 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $33,750, and the median income for a family is $36,563. Males have a median income of $21,944 versus $17,292 for females. The per capita income for the town is $12,610. 12.8% of the population and 7.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 16.1% of those under the age of 18 and 15.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
