Oholei Torah is the common name of the Lubavitch schools Educational Institute Oholei Menachem and Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah. Founded in 1956, the schools currently enroll approximately 1600 students in its various departments, and many of its alumni are Shluchim worldwide. Oholei Torah has four main divisions, spread over two locations.

Oholei Torah's kindergarden, formally known as Oholei Menachem Kindergarden, is located in the Deitsch Campus at 667 Eastern Parkway. In the United States and Germany, kindergarten (German for garden of children) refers to the first level of a childs formal education. ...

Education Institute Oholei Menachem (Torah) consists of 8 grades, with an average of 100 students per grade.

Elementary is located at 667 Eastern Parkway, and is the only division to have been located on that campus since its purchase.


Staff

The principal is Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Lustig, overseeing two vice-principals and some 30 teachers. Rabbi Shimshoni heads up the younger division (grades 1-4), with Rabbi {unknown} in charge of grades 5-8. Rabbi (Classical Hebrew רִבִּי ribbī;; modern Ashkenazi and Israeli רַבִּי rabbī) in Judaism, means teacher, or more literally great one. Oholei Torah Mesivta is the only division that does not share the Eastern Parkway campus, located instead at 417 Troy Avenue, at the Reines Shul.

Beis Medrash

Talmudical Seminary Oholei Torah, or as it is known, Oholei Torah Zal, is the largest Lubavitch Yeshiva in the United States.


Enrollment

Zal currently has 200 students, with about 1/3 living locally, and the rest divided between the rest of the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia, France, Israel and South Africa.


Location

Zal is located in a separate section of the 667 campus, with its own entrance about a hundred feet away from the Elementary and Kindergarden entrances.


Staff

The Rosh Yeshiva of the Beis Medrash is Rabbi Yisroel Friedman. The Menahel, as well as Mashgiach for Nigleh is Rabbi Elchonon Lesches. Shlichus

Like many Lubavitch Yeshivas, Oholei Torah Zal sends graduating students to various cities around the world, primarily to other Lubavitch Yeshivos, on Shlichus. The Shlichus varies by location, with some consisting of community outreach, and others simply helping younger students in the Yeshiva. Oholei Torah has a dormitory to house its Beis Medrash students. Located at 645 Eastern Parkway, the dorm houses over 100 students, as well as the offices for the Ha'oros and Pilpulim Pilpul refers to a method of studying the Talmud through intense textual analysis in attempts to reconcile any possible contradictions presented from various readings of different texts. ...
