Oklahoma is a borough located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 915.


Geography

Oklahoma is located at 40°34'54" North, 79°34'29" West (40.581613, -79.574586)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.0 km˛ (0.8 mi˛). 1.9 km˛ (0.7 mi˛) of it is land and 0.1 km˛ (0.04 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 5.06% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 915 people, 375 households, and 270 families residing in the borough. The population density is 477.4/km˛ (1,233.0/mi˛). There are 390 housing units at an average density of 203.5/km˛ (525.5/mi˛). The racial makeup of the borough is 98.91% White, 0.66% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. 0.22% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 375 households out of which 31.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% are married couples living together, 10.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 24.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.89.


In the borough the population is spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 86.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.1 males.


The median income for a household in the borough is $38,667, and the median income for a family is $41,477. Males have a median income of $35,313 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $17,547. 6.7% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.6% of those under the age of 18 and 10.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
