Ibobi Singh is new CLP leader of Manipur (204 words)
Mukherjee said Ibobi Singh was elected during a meeting of the newly-elected Congress members on Wednesday morning, which was attended by senior Congress leader and former chief minister Rishang Keishing.
With the election of Ibobi Singh as new CLP leader, the Congress-led four-party Secular Progressive Front, with 33 MLAs in the 60-member assembly, is now set to form a government in the state, sources said.
Singh, who is set to be sworn in the 25th chief minister of the state, would also submit a list of members to Governor Ved Marwah to be sworn-in along with him, sources added.
