History
In response to overcrowding at existing schools and continued growth and development in the rural southeastern area of Henry County, the Henry County Board of Education elected in 2005 to build a middle and a high school near the Ola unincorporated area, near the existing Ola Elementary School. Construction began the same year and was completed in May of 2006, 2 months before the opening date of August 3, 2006. National Honor Society The sponsor for the National Honor Society is Lesley Carnes. Purposes of the NHS as taken from the NHS Constitution are to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, and finally to promote leadership and develop character. Some activities include campus cleanups, local community service, tree plantings, etc.[5]
Outdoors Club Vicki Loess and Katrina Pandya sponsor the Outdoors Club. Through hiking, white water rafting, indoor rock climbing, bicycling, caving, and a summer trip to Costa Rica, they plan to achieve a healthy respect and understanding for their natural environment. Also, they want to learn about all aspects of the outdoors and nature. In addition, they will be responsible for starting and maintaining a recycling program for Ola High School as part of the required volunteer work.[6]
Partners Club Members of the Partners Club help with Special Olympic events. They do a therapeutic horse back riding program and play with Special Olympics Athletes on teams. Kathy Simpson and Annette Britt are the sponsors to contact for any information.[7]
Skills U.S.A. Skills U.S.A. is led by Coach Holcomb, he has collected an initial fee of twenty dollars to join. The group plans on making trips to various conventions in and out of the state.
