Biography Olcadan comes from an ancient time now long lost. He is an expert in any and all kinds of martial arts, and his mastery of weapons in particular can be compared to heroes of both the east and the west, perhaps even surpassing them all. In those times of war, the people sought a hero, but Olcadan was not intested in the world's affairs, as he only cared for his strength. Even if the people were in awe of him and treated him as an eccentric, Olcadan ignored them and focused on honing his skills. When Olcadan reached manhood, there was no human being on earth who could challenge him. He could boast that, save one single fight which ended in a draw, he was undefeated in his countless bouts. So he set his sights on the gods and, to test how close he was to rivaling them, started hunting down the great owl, said to have been sent by the god of war to observe the world. He challenged a messenger of the gods to a duel and defeated him, and then brought the owl's head as proof of his victory, but the people didn't cherish him, for they were afraid of the wrath of the gods. The gods acted shortly after. Affected by both the sun and moon's light and the position of the stars, Olcadan's head turned from human to owl and back again. The people, trying to seek the gods' forgiveness, sent a group of Sorcerers, known as the "Sages of the Oak," to capture him. At first Olcadan resisted, but the sages took advantage of his vow to become stronger and finally captured him. Chained at the altar on the top of a mountain, the god of wars (in the form of a headless owl) punished Olcadan by sealing him inside an ancient labyrinth ruin deep beneath the earth, where time didn't exist. Olcadan tried to find an exit, but no matter what he did, nothing changed in the labryinth. Time there didn't flow, and he never felt thirst or hunger, or even grew old. Resigned, Olcadan stayed in a lone room and fell into a deep slumber. A Roman mosaic picturing Theseus and the Minotaur. ...
Suddenly the peace was broken. A deafening roar followed by a wave of energy woke him from his slumber. By the change in the wind's flow, he realized the seal was broken, probably by the same energy wave, which he didn't know was the Evil Seed. As he left the ruins, he wondered how much time passed. The gods who cursed him were long gone, and thus his curse possibly couldn't ever be lifted. Still, he was not troubled by this. He was excited after realizing the power which freed him was possibly the strongest in this new era. Look up Curse in Wiktionary, the free dictionary. ...
Once he started to search for the source of that power, he soon discovered that to do anything he needed something called "money." Even if it was a foreign concept, he accepted it and soon started to get income teaching people the techniques he has mastered, and slowly he learned of this new era. And now, to recover his combat senses dulled over the course of his long sleep, he cut ties with the world and returned to the labryinth. He's going to challenge the greatest power in this era: a pair of swords that, once weak in his era, now rivaled the gods...
Soul Calibur 3 endings Olcadan will be standing over Soul Edge complimenting it then raise his hand. If the player doesn't press the buttons he will destroy it. Then he is shown beating up people saying nobody is strong here and then says he'll just have to train someone, dragging one man away. He is shown training two swordfighters and as he turns around they attempt to attack him but he throws them out. If the player does press the buttons he will take Soul Edge to the weapon store where he silently haggles with Valeria intill Lynette whispers to her and Olcadan leaves with a few coins.
Weapons -- The Ancient A set of weapons, all made with similar designs, used by Olcadan. Nothing is known about these weapons, but is probable that Olcadan made the weapons himself. They are kept in an old box with Olcadan's symbol on it. The Ancient are well-balanced; they have no special effects. (Note: Olcadan gains 3 more weapon copies in Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition, due to Li Long, Hwang, and Amy being added to the game.) Stages -- Grand Labyrinth (SC3) Buried on the coast of the Black Sea lie the forgotten ruins of a gigantic stone structure. Olcadan had once been imprisoned in this place by a curse of a God, but its entrance is now open due to the influence of the Evil Seed. Nevertheless, it is not a place to be taken lightly. Its twisting passageways confuse the sense of direction, and the dark, wet atmosphere induces a primal fear in those who enter. Those who constructed this labyrinth have long since disappeared from the earth, and there is no way to know for what purpose it was built. But supposedly, this place was known to them as the "end of the earth," and, to them, this underground labyrinth may have perhaps been the kingdom of death -- the land of the Gods.
Character Analysis Olcadan serves the same role as Charade or Edge Master in previous games. Every round he will adopt a new fighting style, chosen at random from the styles of other characters. His weapon adopts the properties of the character's corresponding weapon; for example, if the player selects "The Hidden" as Olcadan's weapon, Olcadan will use the character's "ultimate" weapon (usually a form of Soul Edge or Soul Calibur). Olcadan does not use Create-A-Soul's generic weapon styles, Abyss's or Night Terror's style. He has no unique moves besides his taunt, which doesn't change for each style. Trivia - Completing Olcadan's tutorials with any character will unlock their ancient weapon. Alternatively, you must defeat Olcadan in Tales of Souls mode to unlock the ancient weapons.
- Olcadan can be first seen in the Tutorial mode of Soul Calibur III, where he teaches the basic, intermediate and advanced techniques of the fighting engine. Story-wise, this is explained since Olcadan makes a living teaching warriors how to fight, as clearly demonstrated in his no-input ending, which signifies yet another comedic point in the game; in it, two rogue students of his try (and almost immediately fail) to kill him while his back is turned.
- Most of Olcadan's standard weapons are based on the designs of extra weapons from Soul Calibur II.
- In his Destined Battle dialogue Olcadan notes that Kilik uses the same style as a certain person. Who he is referring to is uncertain, but it has become a general belief he refers to the one fight that ended in a draw mentioned on his profile, and that the comment is a hint that the man is in fact Edge Master, Kilik's master.
- According to Soul Archive's Kimagure Watch interview done fictionally to Olcadan, he is shown as being quite greedy.
- Olcadan can only be confronted in Tales of Souls if the player follows a certain path without a single loss. As such, the player must defeat Olcadan to get to Night Terror.
- One of Olcadan's concept art pieces has him resembling Edge Master (Similar tattoos, hair, and skin tone). There are also two alternate designs: a Viking man, and the other a large, older woman.
- Olcadan has an official nickname on www.namco-ch.net which is Japanese only. Apparently a fan translation of his title seems to be either "The Brave King of a Hundred Swords" or "The Master"[citation needed].
- Olcadan's Destined Battle is Kilik.
- Olcadan is often noted on Internet message boards as resembling the O RLY? owl.
