Old Street station is a London Underground and railway station just north of the City, lying on the border between Islington and Hackney. Both the Underground and the mainline railway are in deep-level "tube" tunnels at Old Street. It is on the Bank branch of the Northern Line, between Moorgate and Angel in zone 1, and on the Northern City Line served by WAGN, on which line it is between Moorgate and Essex Road.

Above ground it is situated under the eastern edge of the busy Old Street roundabout, where Old Street crosses City Road. There is no ground-level station frontage, access being by ramps and stairs to a modern station entrance which is part of a small shopping parade beneath the roundabout. There is no sign of the original ground-level buildings of this station.
