Oldham Roughyeds are a British Rugby league club, founded in 1876 and currently playing in the League One of the National Leagues. They were known simply as Oldham RLFC until 1995 when they adopted the name Oldham Bears to co-incide with the start of Super League, of which they were founder members. In 1997 they went bankrupt; a new team with the current name was then formed to play at a lower level. The Roughyeds tag had been a long accepted nickname for the old club.
