Olivier Dassault (born 1 June 1951 in Boulogne-Billancourt) is a French politician, currently serving as a deputy in the French National Assembly. He is also the son of Serge Dassault and grandchild of Marcel Dassault. He was elected 16 June 2002 as deputy for the first circonscription of Oise, running on the UMP ticket. Dassault, 79, became the chief executive officer of Socpresse, the largest French newspaper publishing house on June 18.
July warned that a merger between Dassault's new publishing group and TF1 would create a concentration of media power in the hands of a corporate military empire that would be unique in Europe.
Dassault would also enjoy natural support from the editorial line of Le Figaro, which has been a traditional bastion of right-wing politics almost since its foundation in 1826.
