Olympic Class Medical Ship In the Star Trek fictional universe, the Olympic class is a rarely seen starship used by Starfleet. They probably entered service during the 2350s in response to the growing Cardassian threat to the Federation and probably served during the Dominion War where twenty-five hospital ships were transferred to Romulan control in 2375. Olympic class starships served as hospital ships and are unique for having a large ball-like sphere as a primary hull attached to the curved engineering section. One large shuttlebay is at the rear of the engineering hull, perhaps designed to accommodate runabouts. The sphere is covered with portholes, lifeboats and a blue rectangular navigational deflector. The warp nacelles are attached to the secondary hull by backward-angled, upward-curving pylons. Star Trek image: Olympic Class medical ship This work is copyrighted. ...
