History

Omni Air was founded in 1983 as Omni Air Transport and operated Learjet aircraft for corporate charter flights and air ambulance services. In 1993, the company purchased Boeing 727 freighter aircraft and began operating as Omni Air Express. The airline was contracted to provide freight services for Emery Worldwide, United Parcel Service, BAX Global and DHL private postal companies. In addition, Omni flew a large fleet of aircraft for the United States Postal Service. After growing the cargo business, in 1997 the company purchased DC-10 aircraft and finally entered the passenger market under the brand name Omni Air International. The airline provided charter flights for tour operators like Worry Free Vacations, MLT Vacations, and others. In 1999, the company was contracted by the United States Department of Defense to operate military missions around the world.
