History

The station was previously known as Aoyama-rokuchōme Station (1938 - 39) and Jingumae Station (1939 - 1978). This makes it the only Tokyo Metro station to have been renamed twice. The "Omotesando" name was adopted upon the opening of the Hanzomon Line in 1978.
