This has now been discontinued with all services now simply branded 'one'. The sub-brands were:

Criticism

'one' has recieved intense criticism for its new timetable: Although Lowestoft, Harwich and stations to Peterborough now have a direct service to and from London, the timetable is "padded" to give a false indiciation of performance level. As a result many trains wait so long in stations where they previously used for interchange that passengers might as well change trains. In addition many people use these 3-coach trains trains for a journey on the mainline which has lead to much overcrowding.

Certain stations, most notably Ipswich station recieved as less frequent service than they would have previously. Although 'one' claims that the service was provided better than was neccesary previously due to competetism, this does not seem valid when overcrowding or delays previously less serious occur. The new timetable has lead to more intercity stops to allow for the reduction in Ipswich to London services. This has lead to increased journey time. The front of Ipswich station Ipswich railway station is a railway station serving the town of Ipswich in Suffolk. ...

Secondly, 'one' has been critisised for the condition of some of their rolling stock. The intercity trains use locomotive-hauled Mark 2 or Mark 3 sets. Due to the age, 'one' are gradually replacing the Mark 2 sets with Mark 3 sets, which are undergoing refurbishment. Many of these coaches have not been refurbished and still have faults with air conditioning, doors and lighting. A locomotive is a railway vehicle that provides the motive power for a train, and has no payload capacity of its own; its sole purpose is to move the train along the tracks. ... British Rails second design of carriages was designated Mark 2. ... British Rails third design of carriages was designated Mark 3. ...

The operator has had poor industrial relations since it started operating the franchise, with guards and revenue staff striking over the introduction of new machines, and more recently drivers' union Aslef has banned rest day working.

There is also serious doubt over the TOC's finances, some sources suggest that they are several million pounds in debt, and may have to be 'bailed out' by the Department for Transport in the same way that Connex SouthEastern was a few years ago. In the United Kingdom, the Department for Transport is the government department responsible for the transport network. ... Connex is the brand name of the transport services division of the French-based multinational company Veolia Environnement. ...

Finally the fares have been criticised. These seem to increase with no evidence of improved service. There are also more restrictions to discount tickets, which has caused confusion.

Rail transport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (2834 words)
Securing railways is often more difficult than for other modes of transport because stations are designed with easy access and high capacity rather than security as their primary goals; most trains make many stops, rendering any sort of passenger screening difficult; and securing the tracks as they run through cities and the countryside is impractical.
The first railways in Great Britain (also known as wagonways) were built in the early 17th century, mainly for transporting coal from the mine to the water side where it could be loaded on to a boat.
Railways soon spread throughout the United Kingdom and through the world, and became the dominant means of land transport for nearly a century, until the invention of aircraft and automobiles, which prompted a gradual decline in railways.
