During the first bits of the story, he meets a beautiful half-human alien who is researching planet Earth and eventually begins posing as a teacher. In addition she is not always portrayed as a magical girlfriend; she can be oversensitive, and she and Kei have genuine arguments. Despite the obvious wish fulfillment potential of the series, some fans humorously point out that the situation is also enticing from Mizuho's viewpoint, with her mother's insinuations that Mizuho and herself have a thing for young bishounen men. This is somewhat ironic, given that both Kei and Ichigo (a female supporting character) are older than they look, although the latter is famous for other reasons. Bishōnen (美少年. ... Characters

  • Kei Kusanagi, 18-year old who retains a 15-year old body after a 3 year long "standstill" (Coma-like state that occurs during a time of extreme emotional feeling. Standstills are derived from an unknown disease that Kei and Ichigo have.)
  • Mizuho Kazami, half alien, half human Level C Planet Inspector from the Galactic Federation, sent to Earth to observe and study humans. Enjoys pocky (though the boxes are labeled "Pochy" due to trademark issues.)
  • Matagu Shido, serious student who is into astronomy.
  • Koishi Herikawa, pursues a romantic relationship with Kei. Parents own a grocery store.
  • Ichigo Morino, physical growth stunted due to her "standstills." Much more perceptive and cynical than seems normal for someone her apparent age. Real age 21. Has a younger sister who "outgrew" her while Ichigo was in a standstill for 6 years.
  • Kaede Misumi, one quarter Irish with red hair and freckles. Tall and paramour to Hyosuke.
  • Hyosuke Magumo, brash bleached blonde student, who aspires to attend college at Tokyo University and become a professional statesman.
  • Marie, (pronounced mah - ree - eh, not mu-ree, like the girls name) lquasi-organic master control program for Mizuho's ship. Totally self-repairing and maintenance free. Loves Prech. On occasion plays a miniature guitar.
  • Masami Yamada, quiet and shaggy male teacher whose hobby is human-powered planes. Koishi delivers him meals from her parents' grocery store.
  • Maho Kazami, Mizuho's little sister, disapproves of Kei but eventually comes to accept him.
  • Hatsuho Kazami, Mizuho's mother, fond of Kei, whom she claims resembles her late husband.
  • Shirou Kazami, Mizuho's father. His ship was lost in space and he was rescued by Hatsuho. Eventually, he went on to develop programs for the Galactic Federation. He died when Mizuho was still a child.
  • Miruru, another computer intelligence hologram, dressed in female-like clothing, responsible for the ship of Hatsuho and Maho. Seems also to be romantically involved with Marie.
  • Minoru Edajima, Kei's uncle and doctor of the local clinic. Quite jealous of Kei's relationship with Mizuho, he is more than a little "hentai (perverted), but covers for and helps Kei out.
  • Konoha Edajima, Kei's aunt and nurse of the local clinic. A quite attractive woman who puts up with her husbands behaviour only so much.
