From 1986 until 1990, Ong was the Political Secretary to the Minister of Transport.
Ong was next appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs from 25 February1991 through April 1995, before being promoted to be the Deputy Minister of the same Ministry on 3 May1993.
Clearly another implication of Ong's statement is that all previous MCA Ministers since Merdeka who held the post as Minister of Housing and Local Government, were ineffective and useless as none of them could do in 30 years what OngKaTing did in 5 years.
For Ong to boast about his success in getting allocation of RM326 million for new villages, which is part of rural development, as compared to the total amount of RM 16.6 billion is irresponsible, misleading and ridiculous.
Ong can only boast of a real success in getting equal treatment for new villages if he can secure their rightful share of development funds in proportion to their population.
