The Ontario Veterinary College is the oldest veterinary school in Canada and the United States. It began in Toronto in 1862, but later moved to Guelph, Ontario in 1922 and became a founding college of the University of Guelph in 1964. OVC is the only veterinary college in the province of Ontario, and one of only four veterinary colleges across Canada. (The other three are at the Université de Montréal, University of Prince Edward Island, and the University of Saskatchewan.)


OVC offers bachelor's degrees in bio-medical science, but its primary degree offering is the DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). The College also offers DVSc, PhD, MSc, and Diploma programs at the graduate level.

Family, friends and classmates (OVC' 81) have endowed an award which yields approximately $500 for graduate students pursuing research in large animals and who are enrolled in a department of the Ontario Veterinary College.
The Quinte District Veterinary Association provides a scholarship of $200 to a veterinarian pursuing studies in veterinary public health and/or regulatory veterinary medicine and who is registered in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and enrolled in a department of the Ontario Veterinary College.
The Tasha fund, with the aid of the Ontario government's OSOTF program, provides this annual scholarship of up to $16,000 to a student with demonstrated financial need who is registered in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, enrolled in a department of the Ontario Veterinary College and intending to pursue studies in companion animals.
