Windsor, Ontario gave the mayor's chair to Eddie Francis, who at just 29 is the youngest mayor in the city's history, while Mississauga, Ontario reelected 82-year-old Hazel McCallion to her tenth consecutive term as mayor.
Ontario premier Ernie Eves also announced that the provincial government would not appeal the ruling, although in the province's election campaign later that year he took great pains to point out that he was personally opposed to same-sex marriage.
