Open records experts are expressing concern after Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson said public records not already on discs do not have to be provided to the public in electronic format.
Responding to reporters' questions about OSU's policy of not providing public records in electronic format, Edmondson said records that are public under the state's Open Records Act that are already on a disc have to be provided to the public on a disc.
But if records have to be extracted, such as saving them from a hard drive onto a floppy disc, then the agency can choose what format in which to provide the records, he said.
