Order of Nakhimov (Russian: Орден Нахимова) is one of the highest naval awards in former USSR and nominally in Russian Federation, along with the order of Ushakov. Established on March 3, 1944, it has two classes, both of them feature an anchor-shaped star. However the first class has a golden elements and red and blue enamel. Admiral Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov (June 23, 1802 - June 28, 1855) was one of the most famous admirals in Russian naval history, best remembered as the commander of naval and land forces during the Siege of Sevastopol (Sevastopol) in the Crimean War. ... Nakhimov was buried inside St Vladimir Cathedral in Sevastopol along with Mikhail Lazarev, V.A. Kornilov and General V.I. Istomin.
The Order of Nakhimov was preserved as one of the highest military decorations in Soviet Union and, upon its dissolution, in the Russian Federation.
