Though he appeared young and physically strong, Taylor quickly found the game too challenging and wanted to leave. His departure is considered fairly dishonorable in Survivor history as he did not have a strong reason to justify his departure, other then laziness or apathy. He recorded his goodbye speech (as is the custom for an eliminated contestant), but it was not aired during the closing credits, nor was it posted on the official Survivor web site. In addition, in the ceremony in which the final 3 remember and honor the previously voted out members while standing in front of their torches, Osten's torch was dishonorably on the ground next to a rock. Osten had made up his mind and decided that it wasn’t worth him jeopardizing his health no matter what the cost (even though he had said only a few moments before that when he goes into anything he goes in 110%).
Osten then agreed to an interview with RealityNewsOnline, in which he was curt, rude, snide, and most of all bitter towards the opportunity that he threw away.
Osten’s legacy landed him with not one but two mentions in the Reality TV Hall of Shame (his original induction and then an update to address his post-game statements), as well as making him the first person to ever voluntarily walk out of the game.
