Many consider the highlights of this collection to be the demo versions of early songs such as "Out In L.A." and "Green Heaven". These recordings are the first the band ever made and are described in Anthony Kiedis' autobiography Scar Tissue as being the most prolific sessions the band had ever had. Four of these songs went on to be recorded with Jack Sherman and Cliff Martinez on the band's first album, however, these versions are said to be the preferred ones as they capture the original vibe intended. Hillel Slovak's playing is instrumental to this. These tracks would go on to be included in the remastered versions of the band's first two albums.
