How It All Began

The Outerworld Investigation Agency was first mentioned in Mortal Kombat 3 in Sonya and Jax's endings when they tried to warn their government about the upcoming threats of the Outworld. Of course, nobody took them seriously, and the two were even filed for Insanity. Just before they were going to be sentenced to a mental institution, Shao Khan's invasion begun and he stripped off all mankind of their own souls. Jax and Sonya were amog a few survivors whom souls were protected from Shao Khan's evil and they were seclected by the Elder Gods to compete in their world's struggle for freedom. After the defeat of Shao Khan, Sonya and Jax managed to convince their government of the threat by bringing in soild evidence. With the Government satistfied and convinced with the evidence that was brought forth, he allowed Sonya to form this international organisation, in which it was their job to protect Earthrealm from outside forces. Sonya was handpicked as the leader, and was able to choose any member to join. She chose Jax first.

Their focus on Kano and the Black Dragon clan was not moved away when they first formed this organisation. Kano was believed to be dead after the events of Mortal Kombat Trilogy came to an end, and it was widely believed that the last thug was Jarek. During the events of Mortal Kombat Gold, Sonya and Jax went after Jarek, but fought alongside him when they learned of the new threat of Shinnok and Quan Chi. After when Shinnok was defeated, the two warriors (Sonya and Jarek) fought to the end, in which Sonya won after throwing Jarek off a cliff- an ironic twist for Sonya as she threw Kano of a skycraper during the events of Mortal Kombat Trilogy After Jarek's death (in which he was sent to the Netherealm, hence his appearence in Mortal Kombat: Deception) Sonya and Jax would go and focus on International crimes, while Sonya managed to maintain a long distance relationship with Johnny Cage. Along the way, Sonya and Jax found the Lin Kuei cyber ninja Cyrax, whom was near death and malfunctioning. The duo managed to restore his soul back into his body and saved his life. In appreciation, he would join the group. Kenshi was recruited when he learned of Sonya's organization and their constant travels from Outworld- the place where Shang Tsung resided. With that, Kenshi joined the Organization to not only assist them in their needs, but also quench his thirst for revenge. During the end of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the Outerworld Investigation agency have been temporarily disbanded. Kenshi was near death, suffering from brutal wounds near his rib cage- only to survive with the assistance of Sub-Zero, whom found and healed him. Sonya and Jax, after a fight with the Taraktan warriors succumbed to their deaths only to be ressurected and turned evil by Onaga, whom casted a spell over Earthrealm's fallen champions. It is unknown of Cyrax's fate, but it is believed that Cyrax was the only survivor who returned to Earthrealm after accomplishing his mission to retrieve an orb for Nitara, whom promised to send him home. True to her words, she sent him back home.
