An Outlaw Biker is an individual who is a member or an affiliate of a so-called motorcycle club. The term "Outlaw" came from the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) in the 50's, when they stated 99% of all bikers we law abidding, thus leaving 1%/Outlaw. An Outlaw biker CAN be defined by their relation to a motorcycle club, the involvement in criminal activity such as dealing with firearms, sale of illegal drugs and trade in stolen motorcycles and parts and a general attitude of being above the law. Appearance

Wearing a leather or denim vest displaying "patches" is a common occurance among motorcyclists. An outlaw biker differs in what type of patches worn, and the importance paid to placement and affiliation. The type of patches worn can have serious consequences in meeting other club members if worn in a way deemed inappropriate. Worn on the back of the vest, these patches are known as colours - separated into 3 parts. Prospects(nominees, not yet full part of the gang) Usually wear a rocker thats says "PROSPECT" A full one piece patch is the typical of the "Family Club".


The separate pieces are known as rockers, consisting normally of the name of the MC affiliated with, written in a half circle shape. Other patches worn on the front of the vest signify the club members stipulating rank, their status with the club, memorial patches for deceased members.


One famous and controversial example is Hells Angels Red Wings and Black Wings patches. They were supposedly obtained by a member by performing cunnilingus on a female counterpart while said female is on her menstrual cycle. The Black Wings were obtained by performing the same act on a female of African descent. Clubs have internal meanings for the assortment of patches they wear from years of tradition, and passed on, from member to member.. One of the most important things to remember when dealing with ANY Motorcycle Club (MC) member, is to treat them as you want to be treated. Respect is a big deal in their world, so show respect and you will get respect.


Communication & Social Interaction

Bikers often hold parties and other social events at their clubhouses. Many times regular weekly meetings are referred to as "church".


Some common slogans or acronyms bikers use are "1%er", "13", "FTW", and "DILLIGAF". The largest and most well-known group of outlaw bikers in the world are the Hells Angels but there are several other "clubs" that have a considerable presence in several countries worldwide. There is a self-regulating body for these organizations referred to as the confederation of clubs, comprised of leaders from various biker communities and varied Motorcycle clubs.

Although the term refers to any motorcycle enthusiast, sometimes the word "biker" is sometimes used to mean an outlaw biker, or bikie, who is a member of a 1%er or outlaw motorcycle gang.
Bikers tend to associate with others that share their enthusiasm, and congregate at motorcycle events such as "bike week" rallies and races.
A motorcycle gang (also known as a biker gang) is a controversial term to describe a motorcycle club whose members (outlaw bikers and one percenters) are motorcycle riders, usually of Harley-Davidson or Triumph motorcycles.
