Turco was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she was raised, to Joyce J. and David V. Turco. She attended the Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts and performed as a soloist at the New England Dance Conservatory, the Amherst Ballet Theater Company and the Western Massachusetts Ballet Company. She majored in Drama at the University of Connecticut and after suffering an ankle injury, she turned to acting and musical theater.
