Pankritiko Stadium is a football stadium located at Heraklio on the island of Crete. The stadium was completed on December 31, 2003 and officially opened on August 11, 2004, just before the beginning of the 2004 Summer Olympics, centered in Athens, Greece, for which the stadium was host to football (soccer) matches.

Situated in Crete, the famed Greek island in the Mediterranean, the Pankritio Stadium will host football matches during the Olympics.
The stadium will hold 26,400 spectators and incorporates a 400 metre track, shot put and hammer throw facilities, a swimming pool, a multi-purpose hall and other features for post-Olympic use.
It's a "brand new" stadium, although construction first began 14 years ago.
