Life

At age 12, he vowed for brahmacharya. One year later, he was initiated into Jnana Yoga. At the age of 25, he was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, who mainly became popular through his disciple Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi. Hariharananda received further Kriya Yoga initiations fromn Paramahansa Yogananda, Sanyal Mahasaya und Swami Satyananda Giri. Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name. ... According to his followers, Paramahamsa Hariharananda attained the highest step of samadhi, the Nirvikalpa Samadhi, that is the pulseless und breathless state. This had been carefully examined and confirmed by several physicians. While Yogananda adjusted the discipline Kriya Yoga for Westerners, Hariharananda teach the original technique, as in India, and received from Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri. After having spent most of his life travelling the world in order to teach Kriya Yoga, he spent the last few years of his life in Florida. Several Swamis and Yogacharyas carry on his work. After his passing, Swami Paramahamsa Prajnanananda Giri became his successor in managing the organisation of centers and meditation groups all over the world. Swami Paramahamsa Prajnanananda Giri also wrote several books on Kriya Yoga and meditation. There are several Kriya Yoga Centers in Florida, Tattendorf (Austria), Sterksel (Netherlands), and more besides Puri (Orissa) in various other places in India.
