The airport was originally government-owned, but was sold in 1995.


The airline Air2there is based at Paraparaumu Airport and is owned by the airport's owner, Murray Cole. It offers flights to Blenheim, Levin, Masterton, Palmerston North, Nelson, Wanganui, and Wellington.
