Paris C. Dunning (March 15, 1806May 9, 1884) was a Democrat governor of the U.S. state of Indiana from December 26, 1848 to December 5, 1849. He was born in Guilford County, North Carolina and moved to Bloomington, Indiana and began studying law with future governor James Whitcomb. Dunning was the only Hoosier to hold all the positions of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Senator, President Pro Tempore of the State Senate, and State Representative.
