The Mondial de l'Automobile (Paris Motor Show in English) is an annual auto show in Paris. Held in late September, it is one of the most important auto shows, often with many new production automobile and concept car debuts. The show was the first motor show in the world, started in 1898 by industry pioneer, Albert de Dion. The show takes place in Paris Expo in Porte de Versailles.
The international motorshow opened on the 13th 1898, on the terrace of the Tuilleries Gardens, took place outdoors, sheltered only by some improvised roof.
In 1899 this motorshow is recognized as being the sole and the unique manifestation of its kind.
The universal exhibition from 1900 suppressed temporarily the motorshow for replacing it by a complete exhibition concerning all that had something in common with transport in general: bodies of the cars, bicycles, harnesses, etc. But during the same year the automobile regained his rigths.
PARIS, France (CNN) -- It is like time has stood still for 41 years as the ParisMotorShow opens to a dose of Mini mania.
And Peugeot is showing off its 306 replacement to be launched in 2003 while Honda's stand boasts the new Civic that will keep the company's workforce at Swindon, England, in jobs for years to come.
The ParisMotorShow is from September 30 until October 15 at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles.
