Encyclopedia > Paschal English

Paschal English (born March 5, 1945) is a Survivor contestant who played in Survivor: Marquesas and is notable for being the only Survivor to be voted out based on pure luck. In the last episode, when it was just him, Neleh Dennis, Vecepia Towery, and Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien, the four could not agree on who to vote out. (Kathy and Vecepia were voting against Neleh and Neleh and Paschal were voting against Kathy. Paschal had not been voted against.) So Jeff Probst had three of the survivors pull rocks out of a bag. Two of them were yellow and one was purple. The person who got the purple one would be removed from the game. Vecepia did not pull a rock as she had won immunity. Paschal English got the purple rock and was "voted" out. He was reported to have passed out from exaustion not too long after leaving the premises. Probst later revealed that Paschal's elimination was messed up. Normally, in the tiebreaker the two people who were tied on the voting would then become safe, while the others would draw rocks to determine an elimination. This works every time except when there are four people remaining, as one of the two who would draw rocks has immunity, and can't be eliminated. When the same situation arose in Survivor: Palau, the two contestants tied in the voting competed in a challenge to determine an elimination. Survivor: Palau is the tenth installment of the reality hit Survivor. ...

Pope Paschal II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (552 words)
The imperial Diet at Mainz invited Paschal II to visit Germany and settle the trouble in January 1106, but the Pope in the Council of Guastalla (October 1106) simply renewed the prohibition of investiture.
The Hildebrandine party was aroused to action, however; a Lateran council of March 1112 declared null and void the concessions extorted by violence; a council held at Vienna in October 1111 actually excommunicated the Emperor, and Paschal II sanctioned the proceeding.
Towards the end of his pontificate trouble began anew in England; Paschal II complaining (1115) that councils were held and bishops translated without his authorization, and threatening Henry I with excommunication.
