Patchwork Girl is an early form of hypertext fiction which is not linked to the internet. It was written in StorySpace by Shelley Jackson. She based the narrative on two books, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Patchwork Girl by L Frank Baum. The work uses images of a nude female body stitched together in different ways in different links. She uses graveyard imagery inviting the reader to resurrect the "monster" which is Mary Shelley's creation. Hypertext fiction is a genre of electronic literature found mostly online, characterized by non-linearity and reader interaction. ...
