Paynesville is located at 39°15'53" North, 90°54'10" West (39.264615, -90.902837)1.

Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 91 people, 33 households, and 25 families residing in the village. The population density is 135.1/km² (345.7/mi²). There are 35 housing units at an average density of 52.0/km² (133.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 73.63% White, 26.37% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 33 households out of which 36.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.5% are married couples living together, 15.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% are non-families. 24.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.20.
