Commissioned by Prince Carol of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, the neo-Renaissance style was by German architect architect Wilhelm Doderer and later by Johannes Schultz (1876-1883). Later additions were made bewteen 1893-1914 by the Czech architect Karel Liman. It was used to be the summer residence of the royal family. It is the final resting place of King Carol I in 1914.
As Musuem
It was taken over by the communist government of Romania and then control passed into the hands of the state after the revolution. Hours of operations is Wednesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm and admission is 3 euros
