Notable achievements
- The 1997-1998 Ice Pilots finished the season with a record of 36-24-10 and won the ECHL Southern Conference championship.
- Forward Glen Metropolit went on to play in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals. He is currently with the Boston Bruins.
- Forward Ryan Craig played 5 games with the Ice Pilots before going on to play for the NHL (Tampa Bay Lightning).
- The 2004-2005 Pensacola Ice Pilots won the Brabham Cup for the most points overall in the league during the regular season.
- Former Head Coach Dave Farrish is now the Assistant Coach of the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL.
- The team announced on March 26, 2007 they would be let out of the final year of their lease in the Pensacola Civic Center and would not return for the 2007-08 season. Ten days later, the ownership reversed course and began negotiations with Escambia County officials to keep the team in Pensacola [1]
- The Ice Pilots are now going to be allowed to complete their contract with Escambia County, and play their remaining season in Pensacola at "The Hangar".
- In addition, most fans consider "Ryan", as they affectionately refer to him, to be most detrimental spectator at any professional sport. At times, after games, Ryan has been seen crying in the parking of the Civic Center and participating in drunken moaning about the "liberal domination of the media" and "unfair calls" supposedly made by officials during the game. Usually, however, he can be ignored, but it is rumored his involvement and "crudely ebullient" behavior, as one fan recalls, may have been one reason the team considered leaving Pensacola. One Pilots fan remembers the last game of the 2006-2007 season: "During the game, Ryan became extremely agitated, as usual, at the score. Eventually, he became so distressed over the immediate circumstances, he angrily pushed aside a "Lotto ball" mascot and attempted to kick over a cart of Nacho cheese."
- Head coach John Marks tied and broke the ECHL record for most career wins during the 2007-2008 season, and as of March 2 has 482 career wins.
