The inti was a currency adopted by Peru in mid-1985 during the GarcĂ­a presidency, replacing the over-inflated sol. One inti was equivalent to 1,000 soles. By 1990, the inti itself was so inflated that the nuevo sol ("new sol") was adopted in July 1991, replacing the inti at an exchange rate of a million to one.
