Peterhead FC is a football club currently playing in the Scottish Football League. They currently play at Balmoor stadium.


History

They were founded in 1867 and initially played in the Highland Football League before a revamp of the Scottish Leagues saw them granted league status in 2000 along with local highland rivals Elgin City F.C..

Peterhead FC are a football club based in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Their home ground is Balmoor in Peterhead, with a capacity of 4000.
Peterhead's traditional rivals are the Highland League team Fraserburgh F.C. - however since their election to the Scottish Football League, this rivalry has waned somewhat.
Peterhead history (4251 words)
In 1560, the parish of Peterugie was acquired from the Abbey of Deer by the Keiths Earls Marischal of Scotland, and renamed Peterhead.
Apart from a short period as a fashionable 18th-century spa, Peterhead is best known for its fishing heritage: in the 19th century as the chief British whaling centre; herring for most part of the 20th century and in the latter part this gave way in favour of whitefish to supply local fish-processing plants.
Peterhead's first harbour was begun in 1593, when the forth Earl Marischall (George) financed the building of a bulwark of oak timbers and boulders to protect Port Henry harbour.
