Biography from Karadar Classical Music (http://www.karadar.com/Dictionary/peuerl.html)
Peuerl was known as an organ builder, renovator and repairer who built organs in the style known as "Praetorious".
In 1613 he composed a volume of songs but Peuerl is most important for being considered the developer of the variation suite.
The suite consisted of a paduana, intrada, dantz, and galliard; the Dantz presented the theme while the paduana was the closest of the three variations to the original theme and the galliard and intrada were more distant.
This is the first CD devoted entirely to the music of the early German Baroque organist/composer Paul Peuerl.
If there's any reason for the scarcity of Peuerl's music on recordings, it's more to do with the dearth of existing works than because of a lack of awareness by musicologists and performers.
Peuerl's compositions sound much like you'd expect of music from this time (early 1600s) and place (Austria).
