In Hindu astrology (see Jyotish), Phalguni is the name of two lunar mansions: Purva Phalguni and Uttar Phalguni. The name is from Sanskrit phalgu "reddish". In the Shatapatha Brahmanas, Phalguni is the name of a double star constellation (hence appearing in the dual), also called Arjuni "the two Silver ones", from Sanskrit arjuna "bright, silver-coloured", probably identical to the "two Arjunis" mentioned in Rigveda 10.85.13. From her early stage of pregnancy, Ms Phalguni Chongdar was under care of a gynecologist attached to Vishnupur Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bankura District, West Bengal, India.
When she was nine-months pregnant, Ms Phalguni Chongdar was admitted to the hospital on 19 October 2004 according to the recommendation of the said gynecologist.
Phalguni Chongdar had to carry the dead baby in her for nearly one week without any treatment.
