Her father, Ralph Julius Posoncuy, a l936 graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, was the son of a Chinese immigrant who founded the Chinese school in Tacloban.
He was a general surgeon, who had a sister who was also a medical doctor, another sister who was a dentist, and a younger brother who, at the outbreak of the war, was a medical intern at the Philippine General Hospital.
Certified by the Philippine Board of Neurological Surgeons since l982, she is a member of the Filipino Academy of Neurosurgeons, the Asian Women Neurosurgeons, and the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
