Presidential elections, legislative elections and local elections will be held on May 10, 2010. The duly elected president in the 2010 election would be the 15th President of the Philippines. As the president of the Philippines is elected to a single six year term, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is strictly barred from running. If in case the current vice president would not run for re-election or is not re-elected (as stated in the Philippine constitution), the duly elected vice president in the 2010 election would be the 14th Vice President of the Philippines. The duly elected legislators of the 2010 elections will join the elected senators of the 2007 elections and will comprise the 15th Congress of the Philippines. The 2010 election will be covered under Republic Act No. 9369, also known as Amended Computerization Act of 2007, making this election as the first nationwide computerized election in the history of the Philippines. There were plans from various legislators to amend the Philippine constitution shelving scheduled elections. But due to opposition from various groups since 1997, all elections were all conducted as scheduled. Former Pres. Joseph Estrada will not run for president again because he said that his friends who are Manny Villar, Mar Roxas, and Panfilo Lacson will run for president. Senator and former vice presidential candidate Loren Legarda is also a possible candidate. NAMFREL predicted the tally votes for 2010 presidential candidates in 2007. They said that Loren Legarda would won as president. Senator Richard Gordon announced on July 6, 2007 that he was considering a possible run also.
