In Greek mythology, there were two women known as Philonoe.

  1. Daughter of King Tyndareus of Sparta and Leda. Artemis made her immortal.
  2. Daughter of Iobates and wife of Bellerophon.

In Greek mythology, Iobates (Greek: Ἰοβάτης) was a Lycian king, father of Antea and Philonoe.
Bellerophon is sent into exile to the land of King Iobates of Lycia.
Iobates was unable to believe that this valiant hero deserved death, and so he allowed Bellerophon to marry his daughter.

But Bellerophon incurred the enmity of the gods, and was punished by them to wander in solitude across the Aleian Plain (in Cilicia, the mainland in front of Cyprus), avoiding contact with men.
Philonoe is daughter of Iobates, king of Lycia and also called Iobas.
Isander (also called Pisander 6) was slain by Ares as he fought against the Solymi, a Lycian tribe.
