Piece of Time is the debut album by the technical death metal band Atheist. Although the album was recorded in 1988, it was not officially released (in the United States) until 1990 (although some sources claim it was 1989, causing some confusion over the release date). The reason for this is that the label that Atheist had initially signed with, Mean Machine Records was going bankrupt, and the band had to search for another label. They eventually signed with UK label Active Records, who released their album in Europe soon after. The album didn't get released in the US for another six months, until Metal Blade Records finally arranged a licensing deal with Active Records and released it to the American market in November 1990.

"The Unreality of Time" (3643 words)
When I allowed that entropy and time apparently are not present at the most fundamental quantum and relativity levels of physics, that represented a degree of concession on my part (though as a non-physicist, I never really had an opinion on the question).
Physicists themselves intuitively believe in the reality of time, and they really have to do so, because they need to believe that their apparatus and the mechanisms they use to record their observations (e.g., photographic film) exist in real, irreversible, time with a before and an after.
At the same time, the belief in the unreality of time gives philosophers and physicists a way of distinguishing themselves sharply from the vulgar mob, and distinctors of this this type are very important motivators during the early stages of specialized professional training.
