Pierre Fabre Group is a multinational pharmaceutical and cosmetics company based in Castres, France, near Toulouse. The Group had a consolidated turnover of 1.43 billion euros ($1.62 billion) in 2003 (including 44% international).
Founded in 1961 by Pierre Fabre, it is present in over 130 countries and has more than 9,000 employees (in 2003), 34% of whom are internationally-based. Activity of the Group is focused on research, development, manufacturing and marketing of skin cosmetics, prescription medicines and family health products. Pharmacy represents 50% of turnover, dermo-cosmetics represent 42%, and homeopathy-phytotherapy 8% (percentages of 2003 turnover).
Pierre Fabre is best known for its vinorelbine (Navelbine), an anticancer drug of the vinca alkaloid class.
