Pierre Part is a census-designated place located in Assumption Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,239.

Pierre Part is located at 29°57'40" North, 91°12'24" West (29.960975, -91.206612)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.8 km˛ (3.0 mi˛). 7.8 km˛ (3.0 mi˛) of it is land and 0.33% is water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,239 people, 1,236 households, and 928 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 414.1/km˛ (1,072.4/mi˛). There are 1,355 housing units at an average density of 173.2/km˛ (448.6/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 99.23% White, 0.09% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.46% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 1,236 households out of which 39.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.0% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% are non-families. 22.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.06.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.9 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $37,431, and the median income for a family is $43,393. Males have a median income of $39,185 versus $18,418 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $14,939. 13.6% of the population and 13.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 17.3% of those under the age of 18 and 17.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
