Pistakee Highlands is a census-designated place located in McHenry County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,812.

Geography

Pistakee Highlands is located at 42°24'4" North, 88°12'39" West (42.401023, -88.210738)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²). 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 18.64% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 3,812 people, 1,342 households, and 1,041 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,022.1/km² (2,653.0/mi²). There are 1,400 housing units at an average density of 375.4/km² (974.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.98% White, 0.13% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.68% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. 3.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,342 households out of which 39.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.3% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.4% are non-families. 18.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.23.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 103.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.8 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $54,943, and the median income for a family is $62,868. Males have a median income of $42,750 versus $30,504 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $21,852. 4.4% of the population and 3.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.1% of those under the age of 18 and 6.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
