Geography

Platte County Courthouse in Platte City was built after the original courthouse was destroyed in the Burning of Platte City during the American Civil War. Blanche Barrow was held at the adjoining jail following a Bonnie & Clyde shootout just south of Platte City at the Red Crown Tourist Court.

	The City of Platte City is the county seat of Platte County, Missouri, located 1/2 mile north of the I-435 and I-29 interchange approximately 20 miles north of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
	Platte City was incorporated as a city in September 1843.
	A charter was obtained from the Legislature in 1845 for Platte City.
