On PointJudith, 1/8 of a mile north of PointJudith Light; 41-21' 40"N x 71-29' 00"W
PointJudith station was built in 1876 "on PointJudith, near PointJudith Light, east one-half mile of PointJudith Harbor of Refuge." It was opened for service on November 15, 1876.
The next keeper was Herbert M. Knowles, who was appointed from one of the crew at the age of 24 on December 5, 1878, but it is not known when he left.
PointJudith Pond has long been one of New England's important fishing ports.
Located on the west bank of Narragansett Bay, PointJudith Pond is protected by a three section granite breakwater.
On the east bank of PointJudith Pond is Galilee, home to many commercial fishing vessels, charter and party boats, fish buyers and processors, along with the Block Island ferry boats, several restaurants and shops.
