Since its inception in 1979, the Hall of Fame has honored thirty-three gamblers, one for each year, with the exception of 1993 and the year 2002, 2005 and 2006.
Retired from professional poker, Boyd was selected to be a Hall-of-Famer in 1981, and lived in Las Vegas until his death on Nov. 21, 1997.
A tempered player who was skilled at all forms of poker, he was selected for the Hall of Fame in 1986.
